monkeys - affen

being on a safari with a vehicle and a guide for just the two of us was a blessing (we were guaranteed a window seat in a car but we beforehand had no idea we would have our own car and guide). that way we could call the shots. our guides were always very anxious to make us happy. we told them to stop if by accident they drove by an animal because they haven't eyed it, drive a bit back or forward for the better picture and so on. the best part of it is we could stand there for awhile, 30 minutes if we wanted, to watch the animals move, drink, chill whatever. it was an awesome experience and gave us the chance for excellent pictures. for example: we were watching monkeys eating in the tree, there where about 50 of them, after 10 minutes we went on but turned around 200m afterwards and came back the same street - we wanted to explore a different trail. all of a sudden the monkeys were all excited and ran into one direction, screaming, away from the tree. so the guide advised us to just sit there for a little bit because he suspected a predator hunting for those monkeys. it didn't even take 10 minutes until we saw that lion running across the street hiding again in the bushes on the other side of the street. we tried to follow the lion and got to take a picture of her but unfortunately not hunting down a monkey. nevertheless it was a pretty awesome experience.dass wir mit unserem "eigenen" fahrzeug und reiseführer auf safari waren, war für uns ein segen. so konnten wir bestimmen, wo es lang geht und mussten und nicht mit 4 anderen, uns fremden personen im auto arrangieren (man hatte uns vor reiseantritt lediglich einen fensterplatz garantiert). unsere guides waren immer sehr darauf bedacht uns glücklich zu machen und uns viele, verschiedene dinge zu zeigen. wir haben ihnen gesagt, wann sie anhalten sollen (zb wenn wir ein tier gesichtet haben, dass sie selbst übersehen haben), ein bisschen zurückschieben oder ein bisschen nach vor rollen für ein besseres foto usw. das beste allerdings war, dass wir an einer stelle verweilen konnten, so lange wir wollten. wenn wir den affen eine halbe stunde zuschauen wollten, dann konnten wir das ohne weiteres tun. hier ein beispiel: wir hatten eine gruppe affen von ca. 50 tieren in den bäumen beim essen beobachtet. nach ca. 10 minuten fuhren wir weiter, sind aber nach ca. 200 meter umgedreht, weil wir einen anderen pfad erfolschen wollten und sind dabei bei der stelle mit den affen wieder vorbei gekommen. plötzlich war totale unruhe in dem rudel und viele affen sind schreiend davongerannt. unser guide hat uns dann geraten, hier eine weile dort sitzen zu bleiben, und zu beobachten, weil er glaubt, dass ein raubtier in der nähe auf der jagd ist (dem haben wir natürlich glauben geschenkt - 15 jahre safari-erfahrung... was soll ich mehr sagen :)). es dauerte keine 10 minuten und schon husche eine löwin vom busch auf der einen straßenseite in die büsche auf der anderen straßenseite (in richtung verschreckte affen). das war echt cool. leider haben wir dann das tier nur noch einmal auf der straße wiedergertoffen, aber es war trotzdem super cool.
