last tuesday it was matt’s and my first wedding anniversary. matt thought it would be nice to relax during the day and have a nice dinner.
we kind of slept in (until 8:30 cause we are so used to getting up early) and had nice breakfast. after that we went to the pool for about 4 hours and had fresh squeezed orange and lemon juice (oh, that was soo good).
somehow the sun lotion i bought must have been really good cause we didn’t get a sunburn nor did we get any tan :) but that’s just a side note...
anyway – the interesting part is the dinner... so – matt wanted to take me to the mena house hotel which is supposed to have the best indian restaurant in egypt. it’s a 5 star hotel with a view to the pyramids (unfortunately not from the restaurant but from one of their bars where we had a starter because we were early for dinner).
so we went up to the reception desk to ask where the restaurant was and that nice man told us to go upstairs and go to the right, right next to the elevator should be our indian restaurant. so we did – we went upstairs, to the right and went through a hall until we saw the restaurant. it was very impressive and exclusive, everything was in indian style.
the hostess welcomed us but told us we couldn’t dine with them cause matt had on shorts and they had a dress code where guys are supposed to wear pants and a shirt (matt had on a nice shirt at least) so we were about to leave already until the manager showed up and asked us to take a seat and have dinner (the restaurant was empty at the time).
we opened the menus and it was high priced for egyptian standards (i would say it was comparable to prices for do & co in vienna or lawry's in the states). well long story short – we ended up in the wrong restaurant but were too embarrassed to get up and change restaurants since they were really nice to us. all in all it was a very nice evening and we came back to the hotel with full stomachs and that’s pretty much all that matters :)

Der erste Hochzeitstag. Ein wahnsinn wie die Zeit vergeht.
looks like a nice restaurant, looking at the picture makes me think they would serve indian food there.
